SITI NORMA (lima dari kiri) dan Md Nor (empat dari kiri) meraikan lima penerima biasiswa CIMB, di Kuala Lumpur baru-baru ini.
KUMPULAN perbankan CIMB menyerahkan biasiswa kepada lima pelajar cemerlang dari Malaysia, Thailand dan Indonesia bagi meneruskan pengajian ke institusi pengajian tinggi luar negara.
Tiga pelajar Malaysia yang menerima tajaan itu ialah Janet Moo Tein Ni, Khaira Ismail dan Aamuel Leong Chan Yan. Janet akan meneruskan pengajian peringkat sarjana Pengajian Kesihatan Mental di King’s College London, United Kingdom (UK).
Khaira pula akan mengikuti program pengajian sarjana sains laut di University of Southampton, United Kingdom manakala Samuel menyambung pengajian peringkat sarjana Undang-Undang di Columbia Law School, Amerika Syarikat.
Penerima dari Thailand, Joseph Santhi Pechsiri; pengajian Ekologi Industri di The Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden dan Rachel Tanamas dari Indonesia memilih Pengajian Alam Sekitar di University College London, UK.
Majlis penyerahan biasiswa `CIMB Regional Scholarships’ membabitkan pembiayaan RM3 juta itu disempurnakan Pengerusi Yayasan CIMB, Tan Sri Siti Norma Yaakob dengan disaksikan Pengerusi Kumpulan CIMB, Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof.
Hadir sama Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Yayasan CIMB, Datuk Mohd Shukri Hussin dan Ketua Sumber Korporat Kumpulan CIMB, Hamidah Naziadin.
Hamidah berkata, biasiswa julung kali ditawarkan itu adalah sebahagian daripada tanggungjawab sosial korporat CIMB dalam melahirkan bakal pemimpin masa depan.
Beliau berkata, pihaknya menerima 904 permohonan dari seluruh Asia Tenggara dengan 11 program pengajian ditawarkan.
“Antara bidang pengkhususan berkenaan ialah teknologi tenaga diperbaharui, kajian persekitaran, astronomi, sains sukan, pemakanan, genetik, biologi marin, maritim, kajian Asia Tenggara, seni kreatif dan seni halus.
“Kajian persekitaran paling banyak diterima dengan 232 permohonan. Selepas melalui proses penilaian dan temu duga, hanya lima pelajar dipilih,” katanya.
Hamidah berkata, dana dibiayai sepenuhnya Yayasan CIMB itu merangkumi kos tuisyen, sara hidup, pendaftaran, yuran peperiksaan, elaun buku, komputer, insurans dan tiket kapal terbang.
CIMB kata beliau, sentiasa menyokong usaha membangunkan Asia Tenggara dan pihaknya memberikan peluang kepada pelajar cemerlang yang kreatif dan inovatif meneruskan pengajian ke peringkat lebih tinggi.
“Pelajar tidak terikat untuk berkhidmat dengan CIMB bagaimanapun, kami begitu mengharapkan mereka pulang sebaik menamatkan pengajian dan menyumbang kepada program pembangunan di negara masing-masing,” katanya.

About the National Secondary School Programme
The first level of the programme is for Secondary School, where students who have displayed academic excellence through the Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) and outstanding extra-curricular activities are sponsored to complete five years of education.
Why start at 13 years old?
Axiata believes that the five years spent at Secondary School are among the most crucial years of a young individual's life. It is at this time that they will be exposed to and learn the values and habits that will eventually form the behavioural guidelines for their later years. Our Young Talent Programme is developed with the aim of producing high achieving and competent scholars.
Coverage
The Secondary School Scholarship (full / partial*) will cover five years of the secondary school education, subject to Axiata Foundation's terms and conditions at Kolej Yayasan Saad. The programme's coverage includes all tuition fees, text books, school uniforms and laptops**. A non-curriculum fund will be provided for students to participate in the school based extra-curricular activities.
In addition to the school related fees, Axiata Foundation will also bear the full cost of the Ax-Factor initiatives.
*Partial scholarship is subject to eligibility and household income
**Subject to Terms and Conditions
Application Criteria
Application for the Young Talent Programme must be submitted by the student to Axiata Foundation on or before the due date. The details for the application will be announced closer to the opening of the Young Talent Programme.
To be a scholar under the National Secondary School Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
The applicant must be a Malaysian citizen or a Malaysian permanent resident
The applicant must achieve a minimum of 5 As in the recent Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) trial examinations
The applicant must consistently be a top ten student in Standard 4, 5 and 6 of his/her Primary School education
The applicant must display an active participation in sports, clubs and societies, and/or the performing arts
The applicant must be proficient in both English and Bahasa Malaysia, and any other spoken and written languages are favourable
Priority is given to students from low income and rural families

Yer betul pilihan anda.....
Zaman sekarang nyh banyak kemudahan disediakan...ibubapa sekarang
x perlu bersusah-susah lagi untuk menghantar anak-anak ke sekolah..
tidak seperti dahulu naik jer sekolah menengah rendah ramai yang tak berpeluang
memasuki sekolah kerana masaalah kewangan yang tidak cukup..ramai pelajar
yang tak dapat belajar...sedih jer dulu....
jadi inilah peluang ibupa sekarang....Axiata Young Talent Programme > Secondary
